September’s Song: Between the Green and the Gold

Note: Pierre de Chardin said, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” September seems to draw us into the dichotomy of our dual natures: body and spirit.

Part summer, part autumn, September meanders in the in-between. She blurs the lines between the cycles. Between holding on and letting go. Between release or hold. Between ease or control. Between the green and the gold.
------G. Hill

September's Song

Find yourself in the glance
Of a golden branch.
Teeter between earth and sky,

Bridge the low, straddle the high . . .
Cradled in its threshold
Sometimes green,
Sometimes gold.
-----G. Hill
There is a space between all we know, between earth and spirit, that holds everything together, even us.
               ----- Sarah Dessen
The human body is limited, the human spirit, unlimited.
And we teeter in-between.
-----Dean Karnazes
September is more the season of the soul than of nature.
Friedrich Nietzsche
When once you have tasted flight, your spirit will forever turn your eyes skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.
-----Leonardo DaVinci
Nature’s first (and last) green is gold.
-– Robert Frost

Beautiful sentiments! Enjoy your September, Gloria!

    1. Thank you.
Here in Central Florida, I look for even the smallest hint of September. True September arrives late, in October.

Love reading these! Hope to see you soon ❤️

    1. Oh, thank you so much! I write about questions and thoughts that give me pause. Then I find it so interesting to see what has been written on the theme, plus adding a touch of my own. I didn’t know there was such a thing as the ‘in-between’. Days at the shore, watching the waves roll in and back again, I could get lost in the in-between. Years ago, I wrote about it, trying to linger between the waves, and saying how the seagulls overhead laughed at the futility. Can’t you just hear them?

    1. Always more to think about, right? When the questions emerge, we move closer to the answers. Be well, my friend.

I love the fall as well. Today is a perfect example: warm, sunny, color showing on a few adventurous trees. Can’t ask for more. Bill r

    1. Bill,
I can imagine how lovely fall is in the northeast right now. I do miss that here in Florida. But I find a few hints here and there. Thank you for your thoughts. Gloria
