Aug-ember

For those of us who pine for autumn.

Aug-ember

August's pace is fire and sizzle
Playing fast her summer fiddle,
Hurry up before the tide
Rushes in to nullify
The summer.

Tiptoeing soft and steady,
Inch by inch, sure and ready---
September waits in lengthy shadows
Gathering her confetti
Of color.

How clever of seasons
To be so pleasing.
A variety of color
All mixed together,
In Aug-ember.

September begins in mid-August,
Mixing her palette of colors,
Getting ready for the
Ballet of dancing leaves.

I never thought about, as you describe, the mix of colors as we start to lose our summer and move into September – it is also not as light so early in the mornings now – I always hate to see summer go – while summer is my favorite, I have learned to find the beauty in all seasons- as always the pictures are gorgeous and so fitting for your wisdom!
