Soft Landings

Some of you might know that these daily messages were born from adversity, during our months of quarantine last winter. They began with hand written messages of hope left at the doorstep of my wonderful neighbors in Florida. Then came the electronic messages sent to those in hospitals, fighting the complications from COVID, without the ability to see loved ones or even receive mail for months. The messages helped them to feel connected to the world outside their hospital walls.

We all looked for our safe harbors.

Soft Landings

Today I watched a lone yellow leaf
Twist and turn until its release.
It drifted in the breeze with full understanding
Of floating to find its soft landing.

      ------ G Hill

It is the universal cry of the soul to find its soft landing.

There is something about the one, the one leaf, the one story . . . the one out of many that enters our hearts and lives there. Like Anne Frank. Rosa Parks. Like a baby hoisted up to the safety of a soldier’s arms. Like a neighbor who lost one battle to find his heavenly home.

Soon September will reign its colorful confetti
Of reds and orange hues aplenty.
The full display not yet begun,
Time to consider the plight of the one.
      ----- G. Hill

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36

    1. From the start, we have been soul sisters. You were that original spark that inspired me to begin to write, again. You continue to be that spark.
I did love that morning when you were there to greet me. I thought you were an angel standing there quietly in the corner. We had a good laugh. Good times. There will be more.
