Revisiting “In ‘Plane’ Sight”

Note: It is amazing how three little faces, their pitter-patter, their smiles, their squabbles, and their sense of now, can fill a house to overflow. I will be spending the next few days with three little heartbeats who will get my full attention. Hence, this blog will be revisiting some earlier posts.

Today, it is a revisit about how geometry that surrounds us here on earth might have something to teach us. Plato wrote, “Geometry draws us closer to the truth.”

I will be helping the children with their remote learning while they are away from school. They love math. So do I. When I taught middle school students, it was my goal to reveal creation’s beautiful perfection, especially to those who thought math was just the agony of long division. Were you one of those?

The laws of nature are but the mathematical thoughts of God.

I sent this to my granddaughter last time you posted it. She had geometry in school and did not like it. I know this is not the same as math in school, but I thought it would just give her a little different view of the many places geometry is in nature. She really liked it.

    1. Carol, Thank you so much for sharing that. Often a different perspective, away from the classroom, can bring about a new point of view.
