Hand-in-Hand: Walking My Grandson to School

Hand-in-hand we walked the blocks
Picking up leaves and kicking rocks.
Pressing each memory to record
Swinging arms in sweet accord.
      -----G. Hill
Rain may happen but never dampen our time together that year
The walk was slow
As we came to know
How quickly it all goes by.
Hands, Child'S Hand, Hold, Holding
I am strong with your hand in mine.
The feel of that touch
Was so very much
Like his mom's hand in mine.
All part of life's design.

As years race forward, we are transported
Into space and time.
Like spinning jewels in continuous renewal,
He'll be walking his grandson to school.
         -----G. Hill

I have come to comprehend
The simplicity of His plan.
Like a divine extension cord
Releasing hands, releasing me,
To a loving Lord.
