Treasuring Up

I want to scoop up all the sights and sounds of the seasons, the feeling of love in the air that perfumes the world and makes everything softer and more beautiful and let them adorn my heart.

A Martha World

Joanna Weaver, author of Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World, gently fuses the best of these two women, both of whom loved and served Jesus in their own way. Mary sat listening while Martha prepared the feast. We can identify with a weary Martha feeling overwhelmed and wanting some help. We have bouts of Martha-isms. It is a curious thing with all our time saving appliances and instant communications, we find we have less and less time
. . . less time for listening and less time for pondering.

A Mary Heart

We also have our Mary moments, moments to take up room in our hearts. There will be moments today to treasure if our antennae are up, listening at the feet of our wonderful counselor.

Memories, important yesterdays, were once todays. Treasure and notice today.
           –-- Gloria Gaither
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Thank you Gloria for this reminder as I have more Martha than Mary in my heart right now– I need to do more listening and focus as St Matthew says!!
