Adventus: The Journey of Light

The first ornaments hung during Advent are the ones we string in our glowing hearts.
       ------G. Hill

ADVENT, from the Latin, adventus, meaning arrival and coming.

I think about the contextual interplay of adventus as both "arrival and coming". As a family, we prepared for the coming of the Christ Child by celebrating his arrival on Christmas Day.
Yet. . . I wonder as I wander . . .

Through the darkest of nights, generations of wanderers, the lowly and the mighty, shepherds and kings, take the journey. We keep coming. Year after year. We seek the Prince of Peace with the hope of holding on to a bit more of His light, enough to transcend fear, doubt, conflict and war. Maybe this year.
     -----G. Hill
Advent is a journey towards Bethlehem, a journey we make every year. May we let ourselves be drawn to and remain in the light of God made man.
     -----Pope Francis
Hang a shining light upon the highest bough, the one that will remain in our hearts.
Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.
              ― Pierre Teilhard De Chardin
