Maybe . . .. Camelot

Don't let it be forgot,
That once there was a spot.
For one brief shining moment,
That was known as Camelot.

~ Alan Jay Lerner
Maybe what we hold inside
Are pieces of the grand design.
Higher parts of you and me.
Pieces of eternity.

There is a light within each of us that can never be diminished or extinguished. It can only be obscured by forgetting who we are.
~ Deepak Chopra

Graced with a spark to shine on Earth.
Do we think we lost its worth?
Sings the moon, her lullaby . . .

"You do not have to be whole
. . . . in order to shine.

Light and kindness intertwine."

― Nichole McElhaney
Maybe the light of kindness has a sound, its own vibration, so profound.
I can hear it everywhere. In the wind... in the air... in the light. It's all around us. All you have to do is open yourself up. All you have to do... is listen.
--August Rush
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. One light ignites another, sparking the flame within us to keep aglow.
~ Albert Schweitzer
And hearts once thick with lonely
Unite with One and Only.

And so, it is thus,
No piece is superfluous.
Maybe still seeking purpose.
--- g. hill

What we seek is seeking us.
----Rumi
Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house. Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
 . . . And maybe I like the thought
Amid the noise and the fog,
We are pieces of Camelot.
---- g. hill
In short there's simply not.
A more congenial spot,
For happily-ever-aftering
than here in Camelot.

Note to readers: No, I am not blind to the woes of the world. I see and I deeply feel for those caught in war, in flight for survival and for those crying out with no one to hear. I have vivid memories of being evacuated from my home in Lake Arrowhead, CA when a wildfire nearly burned our entire town. But amid the strife, and the pain, we carry the light of the world inside. To share.

Oh how I loved the Camelot movie musical with Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave when I was a teenager. I remember taking the city bus downtown St. Paul to see it several times. Such a beautiful fantasy, but also tragic.
    Beautiful writing, Gloria!

    1. Thank you Lori. I love those musicals from the Golden Age of Broadway. I had the album as sang all the songs from Brigadoon, Camelot, South Pacific, Music Man, My Fair Lady. I could go on. Beautiful lyrics. Yes Camelot ends with a lamenting thought, “Don’t let it be forgot . . . .” I have to think, even with the status of the world as it is, and maybe because of the status of the world, the corruption, the wars, etc, that humanity is ready for a major reset. I am ready for that.

Can’t help loving the story of “Camelot” and the enduring music of Lerner and Lowe. And those great musicals of yesteryear and those great writers of music and lyrics that we may never see again. I never tire of it all.

Thanks Gloria for your wonderful presentation. I know for sure every moment of light and dark is a miracle.

    1. Hi Frank. I agree. I took a long walk and listened to my favorite showtunes. One is Almost Like Being in Love from Brigadoon. Such memorable melodies and lyrics. Thank you for your thoughts. I won’t “let it be forgot”.
