Transformations: From the Quill of the Swan

Thanksgiving Message: Take time to be thankful for lessons learned the hard way, maybe especially the hard way.

In all of the falling, flawing and failing, there is the grace of learning, of shedding an old way for a new. ------N. Waheed
"The swan now revered his past ordeal, having endured suffering, sorrow and trouble, because it enabled him to enjoy so much better all the pleasure and happiness around him."
― Hans Christian Andersen, from The Ugly Duckling
Change is hard at first, frazzled and messy in the middle but gorgeous at the end.
 ― Robin S. Sharma
Danish poet and philosopher Soren Kierkegaard wrote that life must be lived forwards but is understood backwards. Looking back, I see my missteps, frazzled, and messy, when fear and doubt reigned. Then, unexpected, unmerited, undeserved . . .. came grace as light as a feather.

Grace meets us where we are and does not leave us where it found us.
― Anne Lamott
The miles I have traveled,
For mysteries unraveled.
Upsets and regrets,
Lost and scattered.
To find what matters.
      ---G. Hill
God is right with us.
And in us, and all though us
But we have to go on journeys to find him.
                               ----Thomas Merton
The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you.
― Rumi
If you knew who carried you, who walked beside you at all times on your path, you will never experience fear or doubt again.
      ------Wayne Dyer
And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. —-1 Peter 5:4
For grace is given not because we have done good works, but so we may be able to do them.
         ------St. Augustine of Hippo
Be kind. On the surface everything seems calm. But everyone you meet is on their journey. —-Plato

    1. Nancy,
We all deal with our human limitations and frailty. We are never alone. I am never alone. You are never alone. You have touched the lives of many students over the years. Be well.

There is no doubt the long and winding road of life brings on many hardships that we all must deal with and overcome. Your words of wisdom are comforting and resounding.
I feel blessed to be born in the right country and the right city. Mistakes, I have made a few but overall I prefer not to change a thing. I will leave with no regrets!!

    1. Thank you, Frank, for your thoughtful comments which triggered a memory. When my daughter was having academic difficulties in elementary school, and I was looking for remedies, the principal advised me not to remove all the rocks in her road. Let her learn from her challenges. How right he was. She blossomed into an ivy league graduate.

    1. Thank you, Carol. I appreciate your comment. Sometimes I replay my missteps over and over again, and then I remember to be grateful for the lessons learned. Here on earth, we are in school, always learning. Isn’t that grand?
