On the threshold of everything packs a powerful mix of expectation and unbounded hope. The energy builds. Once felt, it becomes all-encompassing and immeasurable. Come with me. It is not a difficult quest. We already carry the seeds of transformation, "half prayer and half song".

Thus, standing at the entryway to selfhood, our quest is to follow our unbounded hope to wherever it takes us. For this is the way adventures begin, born on an angel's wing, half prayer and half song.
~ Miguel de Cervantes**

We go about our lives juggling two paradoxical poles of identity: our limited self and our possible self. Clouds and Vision. Held in the tug and pull of each, which one wins?
The One to Which We Ascent.

Living the Ascent: What is Possible?
Limitations and possibilities are dueling partners of our selfhood. They spar each with probing words and questions , each challenging the other.
One keeps us "en garde". The other proffers unbridled promise, if we keep climbing.

Question: But I see the gathering storm clouds.
Quest: Storms may destroy the flowers, but they spread the seeds.
Question: What about the rocks in my road?
Quest: Use them as steppingstones to find your way.
Question: What if I hurt and cry out in pain?
Quest: Then He will be listening.
Question: What if my mind and memory falter?
Quest: Then others will remember for you.
Question: When will the world be a better place for all?
Quest: When the veil lifts and more eyes and ears open.

This is the quest: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. Let go of limits. Take a step without feet.
~ Rumi

There is a mountain
Inside my heart,
That beckons me to climb,
However steep the slope.
However high the incline.
If one more step . . .
And one more time . . .
Then let it be mine.

One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.
~ Helen Keller

Vision is the art of seeing the invisible.
Johnathan Swift

I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

Our deepest calling is to grow into our own authentic self-hood.

**Cervantes wrote Don Quixote, the inspiration for the musical, Man of La Mancha. Enjoy Richard Kiley in the lead role. The Impossible Dream.
I also included Dulcinea, a beautiful song about a longing for an elusive love, but also can be interpreted as a longing for the impossible dream, “half prayer and half song”.
