Within Our Reach

I saw a star, I reached for it. I missed, so I accepted the sky.
― Scott Fortino.
Clematis is derived from the Greek 'klema' meaning shoot, most likely because the blooms shoot out like stars. Used by native people, herbalists and homeopaths for medicinal benefits, it promotes emotional well-being, trust and calms the mind.
What we think we are reaching for, is often so close at hand. Starlight flashes in faraway winks, while my close and present clematis, never blinks.

I have learned that flowers get what they reach for.

My Purple Constellation

My purple constellation
Defies imagination.
Clematis so inventive
In seeking my attention.

Like the stars she rises,
O 're trellis she sprawls,
Up to my window
From there she calls.

"Come out and play!"
She beams my way
Her rays so persistent
And insistent.

I dare not decline,
This meteoric vine,
Reaches and addresses
My worldly stresses.

You and I, let us agree
All is here, all we need.
Planted here, let me teach:
All that's given,
Within our reach.
        ----- G. Hill
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
                        ----- Proverbs 3:5

Beautiful. Love your poetry. Are the clematis in your yard? They are gorgeous.

    1. Thank you, Carol. I did have photos of my clematis but these were better than mine so I used the Pixabay copyright free photos.
